The AS IF! Mission Statement

At long last, here it is:

AS IF! (Authors Supporting Intellectual Freedom) champions those who stand against censorship, especially of books for and about teens.

I wish I was a YA author, just so I could join all of you lovely people. ;-)

Please, please, please consider switching to livejournal instead of Blogger. Blogger uses ATOM for its newsfeeds, making it impossible for us to feature AS IF! on our blogs or on our CMS feeds. Your voices would be heard by thousands more readers if you could either switch or create dual blogs.

Thanks for the link to the LJ syndication. That would allow a link to LJ friends pages, but unfortunately, the Atom XML feed won't let sites that use Mambo, joomla, or Nuke host the feeds.

If you go to the ALAN site at www.alan-ya.org, you can see examples of blogs that are feed into the website. None of those are Blooger blogs, darn it, because even with a LJ syndication, it won't work.

I figured out a work around. I fyou are running a CMS site, you can include the AS IF by using this URL: http://www.2rss.com/atom2rss.php?atom=http%3A//asifnews.blogspot.com/atom.xml

If you use the Atom2RSS you will be stuck with advertising in the RSS feed.

The easiest way I know to fix this is to go to FeedBurner.com. But the owner of the feed needs to do this, since once you "burn" the feed, a user account has to be created to control all the settings.

Once all that business is done, you can convert the feed to RSS (under the Optimize tab) and voi la! An official RSS feed.

Armies fight the battle that they were sent to and they bring thier guns along. Authors, we were put into the battle when the first ban or censore was made and we, my friends, bring our pens.
